Chamber Music Festival

July 29 - August 12

Registration Deadline Extended to April 8th

Under the artistic direction of Hanna Lachert and Yuval Waldman, the WVMC Chamber Music Festival is a two week program for string players ages 10-23 of varying levels focusing on the development of chamber music skills. Students have joined us from various parts of the US, France, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.

Chamber coachings and private lessons are tailored to the needs of participants, and include intensive masterclasses directed by world famous performers and pegagogues. Our unique instructional concept provides the flexibility to combine a broad array of recreational activities with an intense chamber music experience. At the conclusion of each session students perform in a final concert, open to the public.

Program Description

Students receive a great amount of individual attention. Every student will have a private lesson each week, daily coachings on each piece of repertoire assigned, uncoached ensemble rehearsal time, and daily workshops or master classes.

Students' days begin with a three-hour session that focuses on in depth musical interpretation and the development of chamber music skills.

After a break for lunch, students have another 2 hours of classes. Then they have time to take advantage of the numerous leisure and sports facilities in the Valley including swimming, boating, hiking, biking and ice skating.

In the evenings we hold workshops, orchestra rehearsals, lectures and concerts. Participants are offered performance opportunities at these concerts.

Students may also opt to audition (at the time of registration) for the Sonata Workshop. Those accepted to the Sonata Workshop Program will replace part of their regular chamber music assignment with a Sonata, and through masterclass-style individual instruction and private coachings and rehearsals with our staff accompanists, will study the art of chamber music for solo instrument and piano. The program concludes with a performance. Special guest masterclass clinicians to be annouced soon! Space is limited to a maximum of 10 applicants.
