Chamber Music Festival
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will be unable to hold the Chamber Music portion of our festival. Please check back later in the year for details about plans for 2015.
Under the artistic direction of Hanna Lachert and Yuval Waldman, the WVMC Chamber Music Festival is a two week program for string players ages 10-23 of varying levels focusing on the development of chamber music skills. Students have joined us from various parts of the US, France, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.
Chamber coachings and private lessons are tailored to the needs of participants, and include intensive masterclasses directed by world famous performers and pegagogues. Our unique instructional concept provides the flexibility to combine a broad array of recreational activities with an intense chamber music experience. At the conclusion of each session students perform in a final concert, open to the public.
Students receive a great amount of individual attention. Every student will have a private lesson each week, daily coachings on each piece of repertoire assigned, uncoached ensemble rehearsal time, and daily workshops or master classes.
Students' days begin with a three-hour session that focuses on in depth musical interpretation and the development of chamber music skills.
After a break for lunch, students have another 2 hours of classes. Then they have time to take advantage of the numerous leisure and sports facilities in the Valley including swimming, boating, hiking, biking and ice skating.
In the evenings we hold workshops, orchestra rehearsals, lectures and concerts. Participants are offered performance opportunities at these concerts.
This year, in addition to our regular course of study, we will be joined by the Amphion String Quartet! During week two of the program they will offer masterclasses for individual instruments as well as for quartet. While all students will be in attendance, those "performing" will be selected by the faculty at the end of week one. Specific details about the quartet's visit will be announced.
