About Waterville
Valley Music Center
COMMUNITY
The
Waterville Valley Music Center is based in Waterville Valley
and works closely with the residential and business communities.
Several Waterville Valley residents serve on our board.
Waterville Valley is a unique community in the uniquely
beautiful, natural setting, featuring golf, hiking, skating,
skiing, swimming and tennis. By sharing our love of music,
we seek to enhance the enjoyment of the Valley for residents
and visitors, and to encourage others -- students, parents,
performers, music lovers -- to discover and partake in the
attractions offered by Waterville Valley.
The Music Center is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization
which attracts financial support from within and outside Waterville
Valley.
CONCERTS
The
Waterville Valley Music Center presents an annual series of
chamber music selected from beloved classics, livened with
occasional innovative jazz and folk performances. All feature
internationally acclaimed artists from organizations such
as the New York Philharmonic and Metropolitan Opera, and from
as far away as Moscow and Vienna.
Past concerts, featuring Hanna Lachert of the New York Philharmonic
and her many friends from around the world, have included
music by Bach, Mozart, and Vivaldi among many others, along
with the American premier of a string quartet by New Hampshire
composer Romeo Melloni. Others have featured the music of
American composer George Gershwin, Jazz from Bill Charlap's
Trio, and folk songs from the Russian Duo, Tamara Volskaya
and Anatoly Trofimov. And these are but a sample.
The concert series is held in Waterville Valley surounded
by New Hampshire's White Mountains in an intimate setting
simply not available in a concert hall or theatre.
SUMMER MUSIC CAMP
Under the direction of Hanna Lachert and Yuval Waldman,
the Waterville Valley Music Center offers immersion in violin,
viola, cello, and chamber music ensembles for various ages
and levels of experience. Students have joined us from various
parts of the US, France, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.
The music classes, given by prominent resident faculty,
are tailored to the needs of participants, and include intensive
masterclasses directed by world famous performers. Our unique
instructional concept provides the flexibility to combine
a broad array of recreational activities with an intense chamber
music experience. At the conclusion of each session, students
are offered the opportunity to perform in public.
In addition to Ms. Lachert and Mr. Waldman, past instructors
have included Eun Hwan Bay (violin/viola), Dorothy Lawson
(cello), Roman Markowicz (piano), and Joachium Woitun (cello).
